In the first round on 11 March he beat Daniil DUBOVENKO (ISR) 22-20, 21-13 in 49 minutes, taking the opening game through deuce. In the second round on 12 March he lost to top seed Li Shi Feng (CHN) 17-21, 15-21 in 47 minutes. 🆕These scores are carried as the 2026 results on our Swiss Open 2027 page; the opponents' names and the match times were checked against BWF's official day-by-day match data.

Orleans Masters 2026

Super 300・Orléans, France

Unseeded, and his best run of the six 2026 events we record apart from the Taipei Open title in August. He beat Enogat ROY (FRA) 21-13, 21-17 in 43 minutes on 18 March, 8th seed Ayush SHETTY (IND) 9-21, 21-18, 21-9 in 53 minutes on 19 March — after losing the opening game with nine points — and Magnus JOHANNESEN (DEN) 21-12, 21-15 in 41 minutes in the quarter-final on 20 March. The semi-final on 21 March went to 2nd seed Alex Lanier (FRA), 14-21, 12-21 in 45 minutes; Lanier won the final the next day and retained the title. The scores agree between our Orleans Masters 2027 page (which carries the 2026 results) and BWF's official day-by-day match data.

Daihatsu Japan Open

Super 750・Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium

On the opening day, 14 July, he lost the first round to top seed Shi Yu Qi (CHN) 15-21, 15-21 in 59 minutes. Straight games, but 59 minutes of them. 🔴Nine days earlier, on 5 July, he had won the Canada Open (Super 300) (see the Taipei title and the Canada Open). China Open

Super 1000・Changzhou, China

In the first round on 22 July he lost to 4th seed Jonatan Christie (INA) 17-21, 21-6, 13-21 in 66 minutes, taking the second game 21-6 to force a decider. Christie is world No. 1 in men's singles as of 15 September 2026. ⚠️Our China Open 2026 page did not carry this match at all until 9 September 2026 (it does now). The score agrees between that page and BWF's official day-by-day match data.

Taipei Open 2026

Super 300・Taipei, Taiwan

🥇He won the final on 2 August, beating Yoo Tae Bin (KOR) 21-19, 21-12. The Taipei Open has been held 43 times between 1980 and 2026, and this was the first men's singles title won there by a Japanese player. 🆕The score is carried as a 2026 result on our Taipei Open 2027 page, where the Nippon Badminton Association's results and the final bracket on English Wikipedia agree. ⚠️That final is the only match from this event our tournament page holds. BWF's official news and English Wikipedia both say he beat home favourite Chou Tien-chen in the semi-final, but the score there (15-21, 21-15, 22-20) comes only from the draw on English Wikipedia, so we do not count it.

China Masters

Super 750・Shenzhen, China

In the first round on 2 September he lost to Julien CARRAGGI (BEL) 13-21, 21-12, 18-21 in 72 minutes. Our China Masters 2026 page calls it the longest match of the day for the Japanese players, and it is the longest match we hold a time for. CARRAGGI lost the next day to Christo Popov (FRA).

Arctic Open 2026

Super 500・Vantaa, Finland

He is on the self-funded entry list the Nippon Badminton Association published on 11 September 2026, in men's singles. The same lists also name him for the Denmark Open 2026 and the French Open 2026 in October (self-funded in both). The final field is fixed by the BWF draw.

We record ten of Okimoto's 2026 matches score by score: five won, five lost, or twelve games won and eleven lost. Every score is written with Okimoto's points first, and the match times come from BWF's official day-by-day match data.

Of the ten matches we record, the six in March went four won and two lost, the three in July and September were all defeats, and the one in August was the title. His Canada Open title of 5 July still sits outside our records (next section).

⚠Both titles appear in BIPROGY's official record and on English Wikipedia, and the Canada Open also in BWF's official news. Our records lean towards the events most covered in Japan, and until now we held almost none of the Super 300 events. The Taipei Open entered our records because we built a 2027 preview page for it and put the 2026 results on it. What we record is still not the same thing as a player's year.

Nine of the ten matches we hold can be split by whether the opponent was seeded, and they fall into two clear groups. Okimoto himself was unseeded in all nine of them. ⚠️The Taipei Open final of 2 August is in neither group: our tournament page does not give his opponent's seeding.

• 🎯Five matches against seeded players: one won, four lost. He lost to two top seeds (Li Shi Feng in Switzerland and Shi Yu Qi at the Japan Open), to 2nd seed Alex Lanier and to 4th seed Jonatan Christie; the only seed he beat was 8th seed Ayush SHETTY in Orléans.
• 🏸Four matches against unseeded players: three won, one lost. He beat DUBOVENKO, ROY and JOHANNESEN, and lost only to CARRAGGI at the China Masters.
• ⏱️The long matches went against him. The longest, 72 minutes against CARRAGGI, and the second longest, 66 against Christie, were both three-game defeats.

• 🏆The score of the 2026 Canada Open final: BWF's official news gives 21-13 21-13, English Wikipedia gives 21–13, 21–3. The second game differs, so we say only that he won.
• 🌌Foreign players' names: DUBOVENKO, ROY, SHETTY, JOHANNESEN and CARRAGGI are written in the BWF official romanisation. We do not invent Japanese transliterations for names we cannot confirm.

• 2026 — US Open — semi-finals
  In June. BIPROGY's official record lists third place, and BWF's official news says he had reached the US Open semi-finals the week before the Canada Open.
• 2026 — Orleans Masters (Super 300) — semi-finals
  In March. Unseeded, he played four matches in Orléans and lost the semi-final to the eventual champion, Alex Lanier. It is his best result among the events we hold match by match.
• 2026 — Career-high world ranking of 21st (4 August 2026)
  BWF Week 32 gives 21st with 50,244 points, and English Wikipedia's career-high field gives the same date. As of 15 September 2026 he is 25th. ⚠️World rankings are updated every week, so every ranking here carries its date.
• 2025 — Malaysia Super 100 — runner-up
  In October he lost the final to Dong Tian Yao (CHN) 14-21, 17-21; our Malaysia Super 100 2026 page carries it as the previous edition's result. He was also runner-up at the Korea Masters (Super 300) that year (BIPROGY and English Wikipedia).
• 2024 — Joined BIPROGY
  BIPROGY's official page gives April 2024 as the month he joined. He won the Finnish International the same year.
• 2023 — Singles and doubles titles at two national high-school events
  In his final year at Saitama Sakae High School he won both the singles and the doubles at the Inter-High and at the National High School Invitational; BIPROGY's official record and English Wikipedia list the same four titles. He was runner-up in boys' singles at the Asian Junior Championships that year.

🗓️Next is Europe in October. On the self-funded entry lists the Nippon Badminton Association published on 11 September 2026, he is named in men's singles for all three: the Arctic Open 2026 (6–11 October, Finland, Super 500), the Denmark Open 2026 (13–18 October, Super 750) and the French Open 2026 (20–25 October, Super 750). The final field is fixed by the BWF draw.

🇯🇵He is not in Japan's squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Ichinomiya, Aichi, from 20 to 29 September. Of the ten men named on 19 May 2026, the men's singles places went to Kodai Naraoka, Kenta Nishimoto, Yushi Tanaka and Koki Watanabe.

⚠ We have not yet confirmed the field for the Malaysia Super 100 2026 (13–18 October), where he was runner-up in 2025, and we do not guess at names. The full calendar is on our 2026 badminton schedule page.

A results table says only "semi-finals" or "first round". Set the ten matches side by side and the shape appears: in Orléans he came back from losing the opening game with nine points, and two of his three summer defeats went to three games.

🔴Read the results event by event and the two summer titles never come into view. The first-round defeats on 14 and 22 July look like a slump on their own, but nine days before the first and eleven days after the second, he won a World Tour title.
