🏸 2026 results
Every 2026 result we record for Takumi Nomura, tournament by tournament. Tournament names link to our summary page for that event. ⚠️Of our own tournament pages, we hold summary pages for only two events from the first half of 2026 — the Japan Ranking Circuit in May and the All Japan Corporate Team Championships in June, and neither of those tournament pages carries a match of his. We have no page at all for January to April. That is why the five events below are what we cover. 🔴At all four completed events he played the men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami.
Daihatsu Japan Open
Super 750・Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium
Men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami. On the opening day, 14 July, they lost the first round 13-21, 16-21 to fellow Japanese pair Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi. ⚠️Our own Japan Open 2026 page writes the same match the other way round, with the winners first: 21-13, 21-16. Of the four 2026 events we cover, this is the one that ended soonest for him.
China Open
Super 1000・Changzhou, China
They beat Presley Smith / Jennie Chen (USA) 21-19, 21-18 in the first round, then lost the second round on 23 July to Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri (INA), 19-21, 11-21 in 33 minutes. ⚠️Our own China Open 2026 page records that second round only as 0-2 in games: the point scores come from BWF's official day-matches data and are carried by our Alfian / Fikri page. Those opponents went on to take the title, their second in two weeks after the Japan Open.
BWF World Championships 2026
World Championships・New Delhi, India
🔴The pair only got in on 24 July, moving up from the reserve list, and before the event our tournament page called the draw hard: the Popov brothers, runners-up at the European Championships, in round one. On the opening day, 17 August, they beat Christo Popov / Toma Junior Popov (FRA) 21-13, 21-17 in 39 minutes. The second round on 18 August was lost 16-21, 13-21 in 38 minutes to defending champions Seo Seung-jae / Kim Won-ho (KOR, top seeds).
China Masters
Super 750・Shenzhen, China
His best result in the four 2026 events we cover. In the first round on 1 September they beat Chen Zhi Ray / Lin Yu Chieh (TPE) 21-12, 21-16 in 29 minutes. In the second round on 3 September they beat Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin (INA) 14-21, 21-16, 21-19 in 66 minutes — opponents who had knocked out the top seeds, KIM Won Ho / SEO Seung Jae (KOR), on day one — after losing the opening game by seven points. The quarter-final on 4 September was lost 13-21, 21-19, 12-21 in 56 minutes to Tee Kai Wun / Yap Roy King (MAS).
Arctic Open 2026
Super 500・Finland
He was on the self-funded entry list the Nippon Badminton Association published on 11 September 2026, in the men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami. 🔴But when we counted, one by one, all ten draws BWF published on 6 October 2026 for the five events — main draw and qualifying, neither name appeared in the main draw or the qualifying (Japan has 17 entries at this tournament: nine singles players and eight doubles pairs). ⚠️ No reason has been announced, so we do not state one. He was also not in the Asian Games 2026 squad of 20 to 29 September: the men's doubles places in the squad the association named on 19 May 2026 went to Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi and Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi.
Denmark Open 2026
Super 750・Odense, Denmark
He was in the Japan squad the Nippon Badminton Association named on 11 September 2026, in the men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami. 🔴But Shimogami / Nomura are not in the BWF main draw (as recorded on our Denmark Open 2026 page). ⚠️ We have not been able to confirm why, so we do not say.
Scores are written from Takumi Nomura's point of view (Nomura's points first). Only matches completed by 15 October 2026 are listed. Matches in progress are not listed.
🔥 One pair, two autumns
Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami played all eight of the 2026 matches we record together, at the same four events. This autumn, though, their paths split. Shimogami played the mixed doubles at the Asian Games, which started on 20 September (out in the second round of the individual event), while Nomura was not in the squad the Nippon Badminton Association announced on 19 May 2026. 🔴After that, neither of them is in the BWF draw for the Arctic Open on 6 October, the Denmark Open on 13 October or the French Open, whose main draw was published on 15 October. Our tournament pages are written event by event, so this shape only appears once the same results are re-sorted by player.
- ❌20 to 29 September, Asian Games 2026 (Ichinomiya, Aichi): Shimogami only, in the mixed doubles (out in round 2 of the individual event). The two men's doubles places went to Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi and Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi.
- ⚪6 to 11 October, Arctic Open 2026 (Finland, Super 500): both were on the self-funded entry list in the men's doubles, published by the association on 11 September 2026, but 🔴neither name is in the main draw or the qualifying draw BWF published on 6 October.
- ⚪13 to 18 October, Denmark Open 2026 (Super 750): both were in the Japan squad named the same day, but 🔴neither name is in the BWF main draw.
- ⚪20 to 25 October, French Open 2026 (Super 750): both were in the squad here too, but 🔴neither name is in the main draw published on 15 October.
- 🏠From 28 November, S/J League 2026-27, Tokyo event (the men's S block opens): their club Hitachi Information and Communication Engineering is in the men's S block (from our S/J League page). Line-ups have not been announced.
We do not write about why any of this happened. What is listed above is only the two squad lists the Nippon Badminton Association published, on 19 May and 11 September 2026, and the dates on our own tournament pages. ⚠️As of 15 October, neither name is in any of the autumn international draws published so far (Arctic, Denmark, France).
🏆 Career highlights
- 2026 — China Masters — men's doubles quarter-finalist (Super 750)
His best result in the four 2026 events we cover. In the second round the pair came back to beat Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin (INA) 14-21, 21-16, 21-19 — opponents who had knocked out the top seeds on day one. - 2026 — World Championships — beat the Popov brothers off the reserve list
The pair only got into the draw on 24 July, moving up from the reserve list. On 17 August they beat C. Popov / T. J. Popov (FRA), runners-up at the European Championships, 21-13, 21-17 in 39 minutes, as recorded on our World Championships 2026 page. - 2026 — Men's doubles World No. 25 (13 October 2026)
The official BWF ranking (Week 42) has the pair with Yuichi Shimogami at 25th, 44,421 points, from 16 counted events. Rankings move every week, so every figure on this page carries its date. - 2026 — All Japan Corporate Team Championships — a semi-final rubber won
Our Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi page records a June semi-final rubber in which Nomura and Shimogami beat Yugo Kobayashi and Tsubasa Yoshida 11-15, 15-13, 15-7 (best of three to 15). ⚠️That score comes from the tournament's official live-results site, not from a tournament page of our own, so it is not counted in the eight matches above. - 2026 — Japan national team (men's squad)
He is listed on the Nippon Badminton Association's national team pages as a member of the men's squad. His club is Hitachi Information and Communication Engineering in Kanagawa, he is from Miyagi, and he went to Hosei University.
📅 What's next
🔴As of 15 October 2026 neither he nor Shimogami is in the BWF main draw for the Denmark Open 2026 (13 to 18 October, Denmark, Super 750), which is under way. The same was true of the Arctic Open, which started on 6 October (see below), and of the French Open main draw published on 15 October. He was not in the Asian Games squad of 20 to 29 September either: the men's doubles places in the squad the Nippon Badminton Association announced on 19 May 2026 went to Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi and Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi.
🗓️October in Europe: He is in the Japan squad the Nippon Badminton Association named on 11 September 2026 for the Denmark Open 2026 (13–18 October, Denmark, Super 750) and the French Open 2026 (20–25 October, France, Super 750), in the men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami. At the Denmark Open, Shimogami / Nomura are not in the BWF main draw (we have not been able to confirm why, so we do not say). Shimogami / Nomura are not in the French Open main draw published on 15 October either (no reason has been announced, so we do not give one).
🔴The Arctic Open 2026 (6–11 October, Finland, Super 500) was played without them too. They were on the association's list of self-funded entrants of the same 11 September in the men's doubles, but when we counted, one by one, all ten draws BWF published on 6 October 2026 for the five events — main draw and qualifying, neither Shimogami nor Nomura appeared in the main draw or the qualifying (Japan has 17 entries at this tournament: nine singles players and eight doubles pairs). ⚠️ No reason has been announced, so we do not state one.
🏠At home, his club Hitachi Information and Communication Engineering is in the men's S block of the S/J League 2026-27. According to our S/J League page, the opening Yokote event on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November has only the men's J and women's S leagues; the men's S block starts at the Tokyo event from 28 November. Line-ups have not been announced, so we do not guess.
⚠️ The association's lists are dated 11 September 2026. We do not guess at names. The full calendar is on our 2026 badminton tournament schedule. Linked pages are in Japanese unless marked EN.

On 15 September 2026 the pair with Yuichi Shimogami was 26th on the same total. World rankings are updated every week, so this is a dated record, not a current figure. ⚠️We do not publish a height. The Nippon Badminton Association's national team player page gives 172cm and the Japanese specialist outlet Badminton Spirit gives 171cm — one centimetre apart — and we do not choose between two sources that disagree. His date of birth (7 August 1997), playing hand (right), home prefecture (Miyagi), club and university are the same in both sources, so those are published. The association's page also lists things like his blood type and nickname; we do not publish anything from a player's private life.

🔍 Keep your own scoresheet
🔴Building this page turned up two places where our own site disagreed with itself — both of them only visible once the same eight matches were re-sorted from tournaments to a player. Both were corrected on 16 September 2026.
- ①The Japan Open 2026 first round. Our Yuichi Shimogami page promises that scores are written from Shimogami's side, yet this one defeat was still written the winners' way round, 21-13, 21-16. From his own side it is 13-21, 16-21.
- ②The China Open 2026 second round. The same page said we held no score for that match — but our Alfian / Fikri page had it all along: 19-21, 11-21 in 33 minutes, from BWF's official day-matches data.
"First round, second round, quarter-finals" does not tell you what happened. In our records Nomura's 2026 reads: first round at the Japan Open, second round at the China Open, second round at the World Championships, quarter-finals at the China Masters. Read as a list, the World Championships is just "out in round two". What it actually contains is a pair who came off the reserve list on 24 July beating the European Championships runners-up in straight games.
🇯🇵The same matches can be read from the other side. The Japan Open first round was against Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi, the China Open second round against Alfian / Fikri, the World Championships first round against Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov, and round two against Kim Won-ho / Seo Seung-jae. All of them have a page here.
Badsheet records your own matches point by point, builds an official-style scoresheet and charts win rate and shot placement.

According to the Nippon Badminton Association's national team player page, Takumi Nomura was born on 7 August 1997, is from Miyagi, is right-handed, plays for Hitachi Information and Communication Engineering in Kanagawa, went to Hosei University and is a member of the men's national squad. The player profile on the Japanese specialist site Badminton Spirit gives the same date of birth, home prefecture, playing hand and club, writes his name as Takumi NOMURA and lists his schooling as St Ursula Gakuin Eichi junior high and high school and then Hosei University. He was 29 on 16 September 2026, and he plays men's doubles only.
How tall is Takumi Nomura?
We do not publish a height. Our two sources are one centimetre apart: the Nippon Badminton Association's national team player page says 172cm and the Japanese specialist outlet Badminton Spirit says 171cm. We do not choose between sources that disagree. His date of birth (7 August 1997), playing hand (right), home prefecture (Miyagi), club and university are published because both sources give the same answer.
Who does Takumi Nomura partner?
All eight matches we record in 2026 are men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami, his team-mate at Hitachi Information and Communication Engineering. Shimogami also enters the mixed doubles with Sayaka Hobara, so the two of them can have different schedules at the same tournament. Partners can change from event to event, so please check the official draw for each tournament for the current pairing.
What is Takumi Nomura's world ranking?
World No. 25 in men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami on the official BWF list dated 13 October 2026 (Week 42), with 44,421 points from 16 counted events; the specialist outlet Badminton Spirit's list of the same date agrees. On 15 September 2026 the pair was 26th on the same total. World rankings are updated every week, so please read this as a dated record rather than a current figure, and check the BWF website for the latest list.
Did Takumi Nomura play at the 2026 Asian Games?
No. He was not in the squad the Nippon Badminton Association announced on 19 May 2026 for the 2026 Asian Games. The two men's doubles pairs were Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi and Kakeru Kumagai / Hiroki Nishi. His partner Yuichi Shimogami played the mixed doubles with Sayaka Hobara and went out in the second round of the individual event. The badminton ran from 20 to 29 September at Ichinomiya Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi, Japan. At the Denmark Open, which began on 13 October, Shimogami and Nomura were in the association's squad in the men's doubles, but neither name is in the BWF main draw. He was on the association's self-funded entry list of 11 September for the Arctic Open, in the men's doubles with Yuichi Shimogami, but when we counted, one by one, all ten draws BWF published on 6 October 2026 for the five events — main draw and qualifying, neither name appeared in the main draw or the qualifying. Japan has 17 entries at this tournament: nine singles players and eight doubles pairs. Neither name is in the French Open 2026 main draw published on 15 October either. No reason has been announced, so we do not state one.
What are Takumi Nomura's 2026 results so far?
In the events we cover with a tournament page: first round at the Daihatsu Japan Open (Super 750, Tokyo) in July; second round at the China Open (Super 1000, Changzhou) in July; second round at the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi in August; and the quarter-finals at the China Masters (Super 750, Shenzhen) in September. Across those we record eight matches, four won and four lost. Split by the opening game, the three matches where he took it are three wins and no defeats, and the five where he lost it are one win and four defeats. From the first half of 2026 we hold summary pages for only the Japan Ranking Circuit in May and the All Japan Corporate Team Championships in June, and neither of those tournament pages carries a match of his, so this page starts in July.
How far did he go at the China Masters 2026?
To the quarter-finals. With Yuichi Shimogami he beat Chen Zhi Ray / Lin Yu Chieh (TPE) 21-12, 21-16 in 29 minutes in the first round on 1 September, then Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin (INA) 14-21, 21-16, 21-19 in 66 minutes in the second round on 3 September — opponents who had beaten top seeds Kim Won-ho / Seo Seung-jae (KOR) on day one. The quarter-final on 4 September was lost to Tee Kai Wun / Yap Roy King (MAS) 13-21, 21-19, 12-21 in 56 minutes. It is his best result in the four 2026 events we cover.
How far did he go at the World Championships 2026?
The second round. Unseeded with Yuichi Shimogami, he beat C. Popov / T. J. Popov (FRA) 21-13, 21-17 in 39 minutes on 17 August. Those two were runners-up at the European Championships, and our World Championships 2026 page had called the draw hard before the event. The Japanese pair had only entered the draw on 24 July, moving up from the reserve list. On 18 August they lost the second round to defending champions Seo Seung-jae / Kim Won-ho (KOR, top seeds) 16-21, 13-21 in 38 minutes.
